Years ago I went to Indianapolis for company training, which just happened to coincide with a certain race - can you guess which one!?

I realize it has little to do with literal homesteading, but it's meaningful to me nonetheless. You truly cannot imagine how unbelievably fast these machines travel over the ground unless you've witnessed it in person. I'm more of a torque girl than a speed demon, but the raw ability of both machine and man is spellbinding.

Day 6

This is one of the first pens we turned, from April 2016. I used to work at Lee Valley, and they have great kits to make a variety of pen styles. Harbor freight has a number of cheap lathe jigs that you can buy to test out if you think this hobby might be for you! (not sponsored, just true!)

This photo is from 2015, so she's a bit bigger now, but this is Miss Fi as a pup. She is the best baby sitter, coon dog, and bear chaser you could ask for ..... just do NOT leave her alone ... she will jump out of a window, or eat through an exterior door to find you. Literally.

Day 4

This is my trusty Theodorus the Truckasaurus. He's a good ol boy, but he's retired now. 1st gen 1993 Dodge W150. They didn't even call them Ram's yet when he was made. Theo is essentially a garden bench now, a wonderfully mobile one with a tractor flapper on an exhaust stack that hubby welded on years after this photo was taken.
